Meeting called to order at 7:40 P.Nt. The clerk was asked to read a
letter by Engineer Carley reporting on the two bids received and opened
at the June 24th meeting on grading and surfacing seven alleys. About
Alleys 26 affected property owners and a number of residents from Hollyt~rood
Court were in attendance.

Alleys Mr. Carley then spoke on the work to be done on the alleys, the
types of surfacings proposed and costs per front foot for each
alley. An informal discussion followed, in which property owners
present took part. hSr. Carley was called on to answer questions
regarding drainage, surfacings, engineering fee, amount set up as
a contingency fund, etc. The methodso£ assessing affected properties
was explained by Attorney Graham. In answer to a question regarding
improvement of alleys in Hollywood Court, these property owners were
advised as to procedure provided for by statute. They were also
informed that some time might be saved if they wished to contact the
contractor doing the grading and surfacing of the seven alleys with
the idea of working out a deal with him on their own.
Alleys Description of each of the seven alleys was read and the number of
affected property owners on each who were present at the meeting
was determined, the total being 26. Upon completion of the dis-
cussion, the affected property owners present were asked for an
expression of approval or disapproval for grading; and surfacing
of the seven alleys in accordance with Alternatez~Erbposal No. 2.'b~`~~~.Yr
The response indicated no opposition to the proposal.

Resolution After reviewing the foregoing bids and it appearing that the bid of
Gust A Holm Construction Company, 1812 Sixteenth Avenue jouth,
Minneap olis, is the lowest resgonsible bidder, the following resolution
on motion by Lindig, seconded by Henry, was adopted unanimously:

Resolution; RESOLVE, (1} The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed
(Seven alleys) to enter into a contract with Gust A. Holm Construction Company,
1812 Sixteenth Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the name of
the Vi11~ge oP Falcon Heights, for the grading and surfacing of the
following described alleys -
between Idaho and Calif ornia from the west line of Albert to the
east line of Pascal
between Foyt and Iowa from the west line of Pascal to the east
line of Arona
between Iowa and Idaho from the west line of Hemline to the east
line of Albert
between California and Larpenteur from the west line of Pascal to
the east line of Arona
between California and Larpenteur from the west line of Albert to
the east line of Pascal
between Larpenteur and Crawford from the west line of Pascal to the

Fire Dept. The matter of attendance by Fire Department members at meetings
meetings & involving mileage or other expense to the Village was considered.
conventions Stewart moved that the question of limiting attendance at such
meetings or conventions b® referred to the Fire Department
committee for recommendation. Seconded by Lindig and carried
unanimously.

Pederson Bros. Henry moved that the certified check furnished by Pederson Brothers,
certified check 534 Glendal®, 5t Paul, 3~iinnesota, successful bidders on installation
of curbing on Larpenteur, be returned to them. Seconded by Lindig
and carried.
Tree Trimming Street Commissioner Seaborn submitted sample ordinance on tree
trimming with his recommendation that a tree trimming ordinance
be adopted. Sample ordinances were referred to Trustees Shavor
and Lindig for study and report.
Pennig Co. Letter from E. J. Pennig Company, 475 West Minnehaha Avenue,
St Paul, Minnesota, as to why they did not submit a bid on
the grading and surfacing of seven alleys described in an
advertisement in The Rose Tribune, June 12, 1952, was read.

Meeting called to order at ?:40 P.M.
• Alley Milner ~Y. Carley appeared before the council and subaaitted a letter
dated July 22, 1952, covering extra work which he authorized in
connection with grading the alley between Larpenteur and Crawford
from the west line o'f Pascal to the east line of Arona, such extra
work arising out of the discovery of clay pockets at either end of
the alley. He asked that the council approve his authorization for
the extra work and pointed out that its total cost at the present
time is about X120.00, which is less than the contingent reserve
set up for this particular alley.
Motion On motion by Lindig, seconded by Stewart, it was unanimously
resolved that the action of Milner W. Carley, Village Engineer
