Graham, Attorney. Minutes of regal ar meeting , November 24, 195l~, and of public hearing on the Hartf iel rezoning petition, same date, were heard and approved as read. MGI license issued to 'd~eiden Bros. Heating &. Sheet Metal, Inc., of Newport, #~6 was ordered approved on motion by Shavor, seconded by Stenzinger. MGI license issued to Fred Vogt &. Co., 6530 uV. Lake St., S±: Louis Park, #1~7 ordered approved on motion by Shavor, seconded by Stenzinger. Xmas tree Application from Clyde Melton, 938 Vat-son Ave., St Paul, to lot license operate Christmas tree lot at 1702 N. Snelling thru Dec. 24, together with check for X10.00 covering license fee, was considered. On motion by Shavor, seconded by Stenzinger, issuance of said license was approved. Xmas tree Letter was read from Marvin E. Smith and Parker Anderson, of lot license 1513 +f. Hoyt, applying for license to operate a Christmas lot at Como and Snelling (entrance to fair grounds) for period ending December 24, 1951. Attached was their check for X10,00 covering license fee. Shavor moved approval of said license application, seconded by Stenzinger, and so ordered. Cities Service The Clerk submitted application from the Cities Service Oil Oil Company Company operator, Vernon R. Colon, 873 Idaho Avenue JUest, license applic. St Paul, to operate a filling station at the southeast corner of Larpenteur and Snelling. Check for ~?_11.00, pro rated license fee for period December 1, 195I~ thru June 30, 1955, also attached. Building Inspector Christensen reported that the Cities=:3ervice pil Company had installed the curbing on the Snelling side of the station as required and recommended that the license be approved. Approval was moved by Shavor, seconded by Stenzinger, and motion carried unanimously. Twin Cities Metropolitan area Letter of December 3, 1954, from the Citizens League of Minneapolis, Trand~~' ComrniSS/on as to creating. a Twin Cities metropolitan area transst commission, and proposed meeting fori3:is purpose to be held Decem ber 18, 195I~, at the Y.M.C.A., 1t~25 University Avenue, Minneapolis, '- Agreed to refer letter and file to Shavor who will ask hegislative committee Chairman, Lynn P~atteson, to attend. Bills: In considering street bill submitted by the County F:,Yigineer for the period October 26 to November 25, 19511, the charge on this. bill for the 'oituminous surfacing of the a7.ley behind business properties north of Larpenteur, was discussed with Street Commissioner Seaborn. R.D. Christensen, askkng him. to change his house number from 1830 to 182l~ Tatum to conform with Village house numbering requirements. Boulevard tree. Stewart presented photostats copies of boulevard shade tree map trimming received from Cartwright. In discussion that followed, Street Commissioner Seaborn reported that he had another bid on tree trimming, this one from the Shady ;'food Tree Service Company for X3.85 per tree- Seaborn said this was the second bid, the first being for X2.00 per tree. Attorney Graham will check with South St Paul to see how such costs axe assessed in their community. Skating rinks Reporting? for Cartwright, the ?~4ayor said a skating rink had been provided behind the Falcon Heights grade school, but that there is need for a warming house. In connection with playground activities, said the junior baseball league had been started and should be in operation next summer. e) Assessment Stewart reported that the assessor's office had informed him book that the assessment books for the Village could not be brought out for review by the council because these books had been passed on to the County Auditor's office where they are now working on them. Stewart said he also talked with -the County Auditor who advised that the council could arrange to inspect-the books at his office if desired. Our attorney stated that the council should have the power to review and make corrections. Shavor then moved that the matter of the rights of the council to sit as a Board of Review be referred to our attorney for checking. Stenzinger seconded. and motion carried unanimously. Hartfiel ~J.A, Hartfiel, Samuel J. Cavallero and other petitioners Rezoning appeared before the council and requested that the hearing on the Hartfiel petition be held over until our next meeting, Shavor then moved that the hearing be continued. further as requested until 8:30 P.M., December 22, 1954. Stenzinger seconded and motion carried unanimously.. School district Letter was read from Supt. of Schools ~Yilliams under date of valuation December 1, reporting that a recent correction by the county auditor showed the school district valuation to be X11,835,994.00. He said the tax rate to support the levy then would be approx- . imately 71t mills for maintenance, 17 for bonds and interest, and one mill for capital outlay, making a total of 92 mills on non-agricultural property and about 67 mills on agricultural. Anker, of the County Engineer's office, ma~3e notations on the plat showing that the 15 feet was dedicated. Also that eas~men~ was recorded, covering the 12 foot strip that Mr. N_ermes gave the Village, also recording of highway easement, Jos. E.
