Utecht, Mayor; George J. Shavor, Trustee; Harold C. Nilsen, Trustee; Willis Warkentien, Trustee; Clyde J. Stewart, Clerk. Also present: Frank N. Graham, Attorney. Absent: William E. Olsen, Treasurer The Clerk reported that minutes of the April 11, 1957 meeting had not been comple ted as yet. Auditor's letter Letter of April 15, 1957, from the County Auditor was re Brea changes read relative to the importance of informing his office in political regarding area changes in political subdivisions of the subdivisions County so that correct valuations may be placed upon the property and that the propea-ty':be assessed. in the proper taxing district. Sanitary Sewer System Mr. A. PvI. Steffes, of our Sanitary Sewer Engineers, Improvement No. I, Part presented proposed plans and, specifications for Sanitary II (Street Resurfacing). Sewer System Improvement No. I, Part II (Street Resurfacing). Plans & specifications Attorney Graham reported that Advertisement for Bids had. submitted. been prepared for publication as required. Vernon L. Ljungren, of our Village Engineer's staff, discussed with Mr. Steffes and. the council matters pertaining to the proposed street resurfacing program. After the plans and specifications were fully reviewed and discussed by the council, the follow- ' ing resolution was, on motion by Utecht, seconded by Stewart, passed by a unanimous vote: Resolution - WHEREAS, pursuant to a resolution passed by the Village Council on January 2l~, 1957, Toltz, King, Duvall, Anderson & Associates, Inc., have prepared plans and specifications for the installation of a Sanitary Sewer System in the Village of Falcon Heights, to wit: Sanitary Sewer System Improvement No. I, Part II (Street Resurfacing); and have presented such plans and specifications and addenda thereto to the Council for approval: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF FALCON HEIGHTS, MINNESO TA: Approval of plans 1. Such plans and specifications and addenda, a copy of which and specs. are attached hereto and made a part hereof, are hereby approved. 2. The Village Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in The Rose Tribune and in the Construction Bulletin, an Advertisement for Bids upon the making of such improvement under such approved plans and specifications. The Advertisement shall be published in The Rose Tribune on April 18th and April 25th, 1957, and shall be published on each of the same dates in the Construction Bulletin. Advertisement 3. The Advertisement shall specify the work to be done shall of Bids ordered state that bids will be opened and considered by the Council ' at 8:00 P.M., on May 11t, 1957, in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall and that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the Clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit ~~4 1 Advertisement of certified check or bidder's bond payable to Falcon Heights Bids ordered (cont'd) for 5% of the amount of such bid. Alley improvement Trustee Nilsen reported that owners of property abutting inquiry on the alley opening on Hamline Avenue and Albert Street between Larpenteur and California Avenues, had inquired as to the procedure for improving said alley. The Clerk was asked to provide the proper petition forms. Special t~deeting On motion by Warkentien, seconded by Nilsen, it was voted for opening,~Sewer unanimously to set up a special meeting at 8:00 P.Pdt., bids May 1l~, 1957, for receiving and opening bids on Sanitary Sewer System Improvement No. I, Part II, (Stxeet Resurfacing). Bills: On motion by Utecht, seconded by Warkentien, the following bills were ordered paid.: Construction Bulletin, advertising Apr !t & 11,'57, issues,~l~0.00 Northwestern Bell Tel. Co., Mi 6-5200, Apr 10, X17.20 1 ~I Mail Box matter A number of complaints were reported. regarding the present inconvenient location of the mail box on the south side of Larpenteur east of Snelling. Agreed that the Clerk should contact the St Paul post office and see if the mail box cannot be moved back to its former location on the corner of Arona and Larpenteur. M.G.I. License #88 Master Gas Installer's license No. 88, issued to Comfort Engineers, Inc., 1636 University Avenue, St Paul, for period December 19, 1956 thru June 30, 1957, was approved on motion by Nilsen, seconded by Warkentien. Parks ~: Playgrounds The matter of securing an inventory of Parks & Playgrounds inventory R~ report equipment and a report on activities of the department for 1956, was discussed further. The Mayor will handle the request for same. St .Paul resolution Letter of April 10, 1957, from the City Clerk, City of approving plans ~: St Paul, was read enclosing a certified copy of a resolution, specs. for construction Council File No. 182262, adopted by the St Paul City Council Sanitary Sewer System on April 9, 1957, approving plans and specifications for Improvement No. I, construction of Sanitary Sewer System Improvement No. I, Part I. Part L Shell Service Warkentien reported that fluorescent lights at the Station matters Shell Service Station should. be replaced with amber bulbs,. and that cluster lights should be adjusted so as not to shine in the streets. He also said that a review of files on this matter indicated some land- scaping was to be done. He was advised that correction of these conditions could be requested if they affected the health, welfare and safety of the citizens. Property north Shavor reported that he had talked with the owner of of Shell Station the property immediately ncr th of the Shell Station and that the. owner promised to clean up the lot. Said he would report on the property south of Garden on Hamline after contacting the owner. House moving matter Attorney Graham reported on an inquiry from St Paul's Asst. Corporation Counsel, Mr.O'Toole, about a client ale~in~n~ to move a house into Falcon Hts.
