COUNCIL RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF A SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE 97-05
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 97-05 is entitled "An ordinance amending the city code
by adding Chapter 10, Housing Code" and contains several pages of text; and
WHEREAS, the contents of said ordinance can be summarized as follows:
1. Describes the purpose and intent of having a city housing code.
2. Lists definitions of the terms to be used in the housing code.
3. Defines the minimum standards for basic equipment and facilities to be found in every
dwelling unit.
4. Defines the minimum standards for light, ventilation, and heating to be found in every
dwelling unit.
5. Lists the requirements for maintenance of dwellings and dwelling units.
6. Defines maximum occupancies for dwelling units.
7. Defines the responsibilities of owners and occupants of dwelling units.

8. Defines the process for administration and enforcement of the housing code.
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Section 412.191 authorizes publication of ordinance
summaries in lieu of publication of the entire text of ordinances under certain
circumstances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the City of Falcon
Heights, Minnesota that:
1. Publication of this resolution, which includes a summary of Ordinance 97-05 will
clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance
2. A copy of this resolution shall be published in lieu of publishing a copy of Ordinance
97-05 in its entirety.
3. A copy of the complete ordinance shall be available for public inspection in the
office of the city.
