RESOLUTION URGING APPOINTMENT
OF A
RAMSEY COUNTY ADVISORY PARK AND OPEN SPACE BOARD
WHEREAS, a well planned and developed system of parks and open spaces is needed
in Ramsey County, the most densely populated county in the State of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable for the County to maintain a close working relationship
with its citizens to plan, provide for and maintain facilities that meet the needs of
County residents and assure protection of the natural environment; and
WHEREAS, a citizen-based advisory board would provide a strong link between the
County administration and resident users of its park, open space and recreation facilities;
would serve as a sounding board for new policies and programs, and would likely increase
local participation, interest and support for County park and open space programs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Ramsey County League of Local Governments
that the members of the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners pursue the idea of appointing
a citizen-based Park and Open Space Advisory Board, with membership to be selected
• geographically equal on a rotating basis so that all communities are represented and with
membership representative of the cultural diversity and environmental protection and
recreation interests of County residents, to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board
and its staff in park, recreation and open space matters.
