A RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE CITY COUNCIL`S OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED
PARTITIONING OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT N0. 623 FOR VOTING
PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the City of Falcon Heights is wholly contained within
School District 623 and,
WHEREAS, the residents of Falcon Heights are dependent upon.
District 623 for the delivery of educational services, and
WHEREAS, decisions made by the popularly elected District 623
Board of Education guide the delivery of these services to the
entire School District and,
WHEREAS, the spirit of representative government holds that
this elected body be responsible to the entire electorate,
BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Falcon Heights
does hereby endorse the current at-large election. process of
• School District 623 as the best mechanism to insure fully
accountable representation and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of Falcon Heights
also strongly recommends a vote against the proposed partitioning
of the District for voting purposes as scheduled for a referendum
election on October 15, 1985
