Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of Falcon Heights, Minnesota,
was held on Wednesday, February 29, 1984.
The following members were present: Mayor Eggert and
Councilmembers Chestovich, Baldwin, Hard and Ciernia.
Councilmember Hard introduced the following resolution
and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION 84-7
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPROVAL OF THE
PRELIMINARY LAYOUT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT
OF TRUNK HIGHWAY NO. 51 (Snelling Avenue)
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY
OF FALCON HEIGHTS.
WHEREAS, the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation
has prepared a preliminary layout for the improvement of a part of
Trunk Highway Number 125 renumbered as Trunk Highway 51 within the
corporate limits of the City of Falcon Heights, from the Corp.
limits to the No. Corp. limits; and seeks the approval thereof;
and
WHEREAS, said preliminary layouts are on file in the Office
of the Department of Transportation, Saint Paul, Minnesota, being
marked, labeled and identified as Layout No. 2 S.P. 6215-58 & S.P.
6216-91 (51=135) from Como Avenue to TH 36; and
WHEREAS, upon completion of construction, all frontage roads
and access roads as shown on said preliminary plans will be conveyed
to the City of Falcon Heights. The City of Falcon Heights will
then assume jurisdiction including maintenance of all frontage
and access roads; and
WHEREAS, this approval of the preliminary layouts does not
affect the City's opportunity to review, comment upon and approve
the final plans for improvement of the involved portion of Snelling
Avenue by the Minnesota Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, in preparing the final layout plan, the Minnesota
Department of Transportation has agreed to study the following
issues:
1. Whether the median at Garden Avenue
can be widened;
2. The closure of the west frontage
road just north of Larpenteur Avenue;
3. The best possible coordination of
both east and west frontage roads with
access and egress to the Amoco station
and former Flower City site; and
4. Inclusion of opticom system at
Snelling/Larpenteur intersection and
construction of water main along west
frontage road between Crawford and
Garden Avenues in plans for bidding
purposes subject to City's right to
delete the water main from the Contract.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,. that the City of Falcon
Heights hereby authorizes the approval of the preliminary
layouts for the improvement of said portion of Truck Highway
No. 51 (Snelling Avenue) within the corporate limits of the
City of Falcon Heights, the same be and hereby are approved.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution
was duly seconded by Councilmember Baldwin and upon a vote
. taken, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Eggert,
Councilmembers Chestovich, Baldwin, Hard and Ciernia, and the
following voted against the same: None.
WHEREUPON, the resolution was declared duly passed and
adopted.
