The following members. were present: -Mayor Warkentien, Council- members Chestovich, Eggert, Larson and Ciernia, and the following were absent: None. Councilmember Ciernia introduced the following res:©iuton and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION 83-34 A RESOLUTION URGING THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN TO RECOGNIZE AND GUARANTEE THE BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS OF ALL PEOPLE IT GOVERNS WHEREAS, members of B'Hai Assembly in Iran are systematically being denied their basic human rights including the freedom of religion, and WHEREAS, Iranians in this. country and the community enjoy the protection of all the basic human rights, and WHEREAS, the government of Iran shares the same responsibility • as alI governments to guarantee the basic human rights of-all people, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Falcon Heights unconditionally condemns the persecution of the B'Hai Assemsbly in Iran, and The City of Falcon Heights urges the Islamic Republic of Iran to again recognize and guarantee the basic human rights of all the people it governs. The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Counclmember Larson, and upon a vote being taken the following voted in favor thereofr Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Larson and Ciernia, and the following voted against the same: Councilmember Eggert.
