HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCRes_83-37CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS • Pursant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Falcon. Heights, Minnesota, was held on the 9th of November, 1983. The following members were present: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Larson, Ciernia, Chestovich and Eggert, and the following were absent: None. Mayor Warkentien introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION 83-37 A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LIMITING INDUSTRIAL/COMMERCIAL BONDS WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Falcon Heights is concerned over the welfare of its community and citizens, and WHEREAS, industrial and commercial bond financing enables the City to expand its tax base by providing additional facilities for the citizenry, and WHEREAS, such commercial or industrial projects result in added employment and dampen the severity of economic downturns, and • WHEREAS, a Bill is currently before Congress which would limit such financing and thereby affect the ability of the City of Falcon Heights to finance not only industrial/commercial development projects but also many other public facilities, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Falcon Heights that the City Council conveys its strong opposition to any proposed legislation that would restrict industrial/commercial revenue bond financing to Minnesota's Senators and Representatives in Washington, D.C. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Larson and upon a vote being taken the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmembers Larson, Ciernia, Chestovich and Eggert, and the following voted against the same: None.
