HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCRes_75-24 CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS RESOLUTION 75-24 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AIVD ADOPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE PLPu~TNING COMMISSION TO KEEP IN FORCE AND EFFECT ORDINANCE NUMBER 118 OF THE CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 118 of the City of Falcon Heights is an amendment to Ordinance No. 64, the zoning ordinance of the City of Falcon Heights, and restricts the parking of vehicles on unsurfaced portions of lots within the City, and said ordinance was passed by the Village Council on April 13, 1972; and WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the City Council to repeal Ordinance No. 118 so as to allow the parking of vehicles on unsurfaced portions of lots, particularly during fair week; and WHEREAS, said petition was referred by the City Council to the Planning Commission for study and recommendation; and WHEREAS, the said Planning Commission, after hearing, recommends that Ordinance No. 118 be kept in full force and effect; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City of Falcon ~ieights that Ordinance No. 118 shall not be repealed and shall remain in full force and effect. The reasons for this action are: 1. The parking of vehicles on the unsurfaced por- tions of lots is objectionable to neighboring property and is • not in keeping with the nature of the residential zoning; 2. The parking of said vehicles will cause addi- tional traffic hazards and will result in vehicles backing out onto streets and over curbs; 3. The parking of said vehicles will result in health hazards in that persons may be injured during the parking and removal of vehicles from lots; 4. The parking of said vehicles may be a violation of other provisions of Ordinance No. 64 and in particular Sec- tion 6.1 so that said parking is prohibited even without regard to Ordinance No. 118. A motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution • was made by Member Ecklund I,abalestra and was seconded by Member Upon a vote being taken, all members of the Council voted in favor of said resolution.
