Pursuant to due call and notice th ereof, a regular meeing of the Village
Council of the Village of Falcon Heights, Minnesota was held on the 12th day of
April, 1973. The following menbers were present: Mayor Warkentien, Councilmen
Ecklund, Stone, and Councilwoman Stocker. The following member was absent:
Councilman Black.
Councilman Ecklund introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION 73-11
RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE LOWERING OF THE AGE OF MAJORITY
PERTAINING TO THE PURCHASE OF LIQUOR BY 18 YEAR OLDS,
AND REQUESTING THAT THE AGE OF MAJORITY FOR PURCHASING
LIQUOR REMAIN AT 21 YEARS OLD
WHEREAS, A bill has been introduced in the legislature entitled
House File 221, of which proposed would lower the age of majority from 21 years
old to 18 years old.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Village Council of the
• Village of Falcon Heights That the Village of Falcon Heights is opposed to the
lowering of the age of majority pertaining to the purchase of liquor by 18 year
olds, and request that the age of majority for purchasing liquor remain at 21
years old.
The motion for the adoption of the forgoing Resolution was dn1.y
seconded by Mayor Warkentien, and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following
voted in favor thereof: Mayor Warkentien, Councilman Ecklund, Councilman Stone,
and Councilwoman Stocker, acid the follos~ing voted against:-None.
WHEREUPON, the Resolution=was declared duly passed and adopted, this
12th day of April, 1973.
