HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCRes_98-29• No. 98-29 CITY OF FALCON HEIGHTS COUNCIL RESOLUTION Date: October 14, 1998 A RESOLUTION DECLARING A PROPOSED INTERCOLLEGIATE WOMEN'S SOCCER FACILITY ABANDONED, AND AN ALTERNATIVE SITE NOT SUBSTANTIALLY SIMILAR TO THE PRIOR SITE WHEREAS, by Resolution dated August 21, 1998, the City of Falcon Heights declared that the proposed construction by the University of Minnesota of an intercollegiate women's soccer facility at the southwest intersection of Cleveland and Larpenteur Avenues within the City had the potential for significant environmental effects and directed the preparation of an environmental assessment worksheet; and WHEREAS, subsequent to the City's August 21, 1998 resolution, the University of Minnesota has taken steps to abandon the project and site as originally proposed; and • WHEREAS, the University of Minnesota is currently considering a modified project at a different location within the City of Falcon Heights; and WHEREAS, the City of Falcon Heights through its staff and consultants, have conducted an initial review of the proposed alternative. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Falcon Heights finds that: No further action on the citizen petition is necessary because the original project and site, which was the subject of the petition, has been abandoned and is no longer under consideration. 2.
