RESOLUTION APPROVING A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH RAMSEY
COUNTY FOR THE PURCHASE OF ELECTIONS EQUIPMENT (ATTACHED)
WHEREAS, By Resolution 2001-129, the Ramsey County Board authorized the County
Manager to work with the cities and school districts to develop a joint powers
agreement that provides for the reimbursement to the County based on the number
of vote tabulators used in each city; and
WHEREAS, Staff from Property Records and Revenue and the County Attorney's Office
worked on a draft joint powers agreement (JPA) incorporating the Board's
direction; and
WHEREAS, The draft JPA was sent to city managers, city administrators, city clerks and city
election clerks, and changes were recommended and approved; and
WHEREAS, The Council wishes to appoint the City Administrator as Project Manager for the
purposes of this JPA; and
WHEREAS, The current equipment is becoming less reliable, and difficult to repair; and
WHEREAS, Falcon Heights staff and city attorney has reviewed the JPA, and recommended
approval to the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Falcon Heights,
Minnesota that the Joint Powers Agreement (attached) is approved.
Adopted by the Council this twenty-sixth day of September, 2001
