PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION

Members Absent: Annette Geistfeld, Tom Ammann, Carol Parks
The commission discussed and approved the purchase of new
hockey boards for the Idaho-Snelling playground with remaining
budget money.
The commission requests that the Park Improvement Fund, account
474 ~,be accounted for and the interest generated by this fund
be applied to the park and recreation budget.
Discussed the proposed budget suggested by the budget committee
and the recommendations made by the City Administrator. The
proposed budget was passed unamiously by the commission and will
be presented by Paul Ciernia_=to the City Council at a City Council
Workshop scheduled for September 3, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.
The commission then discussed and passed a proposal for a
part-time director. The position will be approximately ~ time
and we are submitting a proposed budget of $5,500. This is to
be presented at the City Council Workshop by Paul Ciernia, also.
Ardis Hutchins and Connie Lasser will work on a job description
for the part-time director position.
We discussed the letters we have received on ti7e summer recreation
program and decided that the commission needs to formulate a
policy comcerning recreation programs. Paul Ciernia is going to
draft a letter of response to those people who wr_nte letters.
Ardis Hutchins asked commission members to please notice the
bike course the neighborhood children made and use in the area
behind the Falcon Heights United Ch~ch of Christ parking lot.
It was suggested that perhaps we could use a similar course in
the Community Park. This area is to be paved and landscaped
as a continuation of the church. parking lot.
The commission decided to hold election of officers at next
