Members present: Floyd Bedbury, Tom Montain, Paul Nelson, Keith Moderson, Annette Geistfeld, Leo Ohman, Connie Lasser, Paul Ciernia, liaison. Guest: Ardis Hutchins Members absent: Tom Ammann The commission has new members from the Falconeers, Leo and Jean Ohman to replace Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair. Also Carol Parks has resigned due to re~QCation. Paul Ciernia reported that the City Council has approved our budget and request for a part-time director at the Council Workshop, September 2, and it is expected to pass at the City Council meeting September 25, 1985. Ardis Hutchins and Connie Lasser are to contaet.Maurice Anderson, President of the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Associatinn and Tom McMullen, Director of St. Anthony Community Services, Floyd Bedbury is to contact the Director of Placement at Hamline University. ~~e are inviting these people to our next meeting, November 4, to discuss our new director positinn and our program. Commission approved drafts of letters of response to par~n~s written by Paul Ciernia. Paul Ciern~,~, is to draft a letter to Gertrude Esteros concerning the condominium association, informing them of Park and Recreation Commission meetings and letting them know we are interested in their ideas about the Grove Park. Paul Ciernia is to draft a letter of thanks to Carol Parks for her participation on the commission. Connie Lasser to send a card to Mrs. Sinclair from the commission as she has been injured and in the hospital. Warming house attendents/flooders were discussed and are to be advertised in the October newsletter and also in the High Schools. The commission appointed a committee to screen applicants for these jobs. The committee members are Paul Nelson and Tom Montain. They are to work with the city staff to determine the number of employees hired last year. The commission discussed the need for the winter employees to be Liven a first-aid training session, an equipment training session and identification patches to be worn on the job. r Minutes Park and Recreation Commission • September 23, 1985 Page 2 The new hockey boards for the Tdaho-Snelling playground have been purchased and are to be installed this fall. The commission requests of the city staff a safety check of the Grove warming house. Check of equipment, we think a nozzle is needed at the Idaho-Snelling playground. Place reflective tape on the cable at the Community Park:. Elections were held by the commission.
