HomeMy WebLinkAboutPRCMin_86Jan13MINUTES PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION January 13, 1986 Called to order by Connie Lasser. Members Present: Bob Gehrz, Jean and Leo Ohman, Paul Nelson, Tom Montain, and Connie Lasser Members Absent: Floyd Bedbury, Tom Amman, Ardis Hutchins and Keith Moderson Guest: Gertrude Esteros Park and Recreation Director Connie and Tom reported on the Subcommittees' interviews with three applicants for this position. Ms. Pat Bush will be the first choice of the Commission for this post. Connie will write a letter to the City Council listing her qualifications and recommending that she be hired. An interview with Dewan Barnes will be arranged. • Winter Skating This program seems to be going very well with many skaters at each rink. The ice at the Grove has been a little choppy and Steve Nelson and employees will be re-flooding it. Before next winter, a policy regarding reserving the ice rinks should be discussed. Also to be discussed is the use of rinks for pleasure skating, hockey and broomball. It was also suggested that the hours be posted at each warming house. 1666 Coffman Gertrude Esteros brought with her achitectural plans showing detailed drawings of this new construction and how it relates to the Grove Park. This Commission would like the City (Dewan Barnes) to give us the status of the Grove Park--is it leased/owned/used by Falcon Heights. A subcommittee of Paul Nelson., Tom Montain, and Bob Gehrz will inspect the Grove Park and review specifically the area allocated for a ball field. Also parking will be looked at. Survey Results Connie briefly explained some of the results for a survey taken in the summer of 1985. It was moved that Dick Krueger and his daughter be paid to tabulate these results. • Next Meeting The date may be changed. Connie will notify the Commission of the exact date. Paul Nelson, Secretary
