PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MAY 11, 1987
Members Present: Bob Gehrz, Jean Ohman, Tom Montain, Floyd Bedbury
Linda McLoon, Connie Lasser, Pat Bush and Paul Ciernia,
Council Liaison
Members Absent: Ardis Hutchins and Paul Nelson
Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Connie Lasser, Chair. Commission
welcomed new member Linda McLoon.
1. Summer Program
The sign-up for some summer programs is slow but we're hopeful that with
a month remaining for registration that these programs will fill. A
calligraphy class is also being offered and will be advertised.
2. Playground Equipment at Community Park
Pat Bush presented a model of the equipment the Commission decided to
purchase and also another model of equipment that would compliment this
iece possibly to be purchased in the future. The price of this equip-
~ent, which is intended for preschool aged children is X2,700. The
maintenance staff along with. several volunteers form the area Lions Club
will install this. Delivery is about four weeks from time of order.
3. Ice Cream Social
This year's Ice Cream Social is scheduled for July 30, this will be the
conclusion of the summer recreation programs and will be the final T-ball
and soccer games. The Commission liked the music at last year's event
and also decided we have a challenge volleyball .game. Plans will be
further discussed and finalized in future meetings.
4. Idaho-Snelling Park
Paul Ciernia informed the Commission that there will be no changes to
the water holding area or to the grade of that park due to work on
Snelling Avenue.
5. Piano
Jean Ohman, as our representative from the Falconeer's Senior Club,
suggested that their group would like a piano at City Ha11 to be used
at their meetings and possibly at other social functions at City Hall.
It was suggested that we could advertise in the upcoming newsletter our
~eed or if anyone knew of someone selling or willing to donate a piano.
