Indoor playroom.
Carol Kriegler gave a status report on the indoor playroom. It is planned
that the playroom would be open two mornings and one evening per week.
There would be a small fee per use, possibly a prepay plan, punch card or
donation system could be formulated. Staffing options were discussed. Two
. possibilities would be to use a volunteer from the church, or a city hired
paid position. The responsibilities of this position would include greeting
and familiarizing users with the playroom, promoting safety and
appropriate use, cleanup, restocking, and handling fees. The next step will
be a complete inventory of the equipment and space, and submission of a
formal proposal to the church. An open house will be planned to publicize
the playroom and introduce area families to the facility prior to its
opening.
Falcon Heights School site improvement.
A meeting was held on November 7th regarding Falcon Heights School site
improvement planning. The committee included school representatives as
well as Parks & Rec. commissioners Steve Schugel and Allen Weinand,
Parks & Rec. Director Carol Kriegler, and intern Mike Shier. The group
discussed the need for hard court space, including Four -Square and high
quality basketball areas. Carol Kriegler and Mike Shier will visit the school
to solicit input and ideas from students in grades 4 - 6. The group will meet
again in December.

Community Park audio system.
The commission reviewed proposals for an audio system at Community
Park. Two proposals were received from A/V design companies. A third
option submitted by Falcon Heights resident David Wickhem includes
purchase of individual components from local and mail order companies,
using system design by Mr. Wickhem, and installation by Mr. Wickhem
and the city's public works crew. Because Mr. Wickhem would be
volunteering his time and expertise, and the installation could be done in-
house, the project could be completed for approximately half the cost of
the formal proposals. The commission agreed that this option would
provide the best possible service, price, and outcome. The commission
unanimously voted to proceed with the purchase of individual components.
