MINUTES
PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
APRIL 13, 1987
MEMBERS PRESENT: Bob Gehrz, Connie Lasser, Paul Nelson, Ardis Hutchins,
Jean and Leo Ohman, Pat Bush, and Paul Ciernia, Council
Liaison
MEMBERS ABSENT: Tom Montain, Floyd Bedbury
1. Bike Rodeo
This is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 1987, at 10:00 A.M. Everything should
be ready as scheduled and described in the March 9,1987 Minutes.
2. Playground Equipment at Community Park
Pat Bush presented several different pieces of equipment for consideration. This
equipment would be placed at the Community Park and targeted for the toddler age
children. A motion was presented and passed to purchase some equipment. Pat
Bush will make arrangements to purchase and contact the salesperson to assist
• in the layout of the equipment.
3. Arbor Day - Tuesday
Connie Lasser reported that arrangements had been made to obtain 200 seedlings
which will be planted in a "nursery" type setting at the Community Park. Pat
Bush will also purchase twenty three foot trees from the Minnesota Park
and Recreation for $3 a tree.
Ardis Hutchins brought up the possibility of using an empty lot on Lindig
Street as a small park and planning some trees on it. A motion was adopted
that the Park and Recreation Commission would like to see this empty lot on
Lindig owned by the City of Falcon Heights be preserved as a park and that
its future use as park land be investigated. The possibility of tree planting
would also be considered.
4. Satellite at Community Park
This will be put in place soon. Cost is $60 a month which includes cleaning
and maintenance. Insurance is an additional $6 a month. It will be at the
park from May 18 to September 8, 1987.
