Please call me at 646-1371 if you are unable to attend. Please call me if there are items that you feel should be on the agenda. The following agenda will be discussed. 1. Park Director 2. Winter and spring programs 3. Flooding policy 4. Gazebo plans 5. Follow through on Commission recommendations. How can we make our voices heard? 6. Minutes of the January 11 meeting '~ s • MINUTES PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION January 11, 1988 Members Present: Tom Montain, Kirsten Eckberg, Paul Nelson, Pat Bush, Connie Lasser, Ardis Hutchins, Paul Ciernia, Council Liaison Members Absent: Bob Ge:1~rz Visitors: Vince Wright, Jan Wiessner 1. Park Director Position Jan Wiessner explained her recommendation for fiIling this position. She feels that adding additional duties in the area of Cable TV work as well as assisting with Community information would go well with the current involvement with recreation. The suggested title would be Director of Recreation and Community Services. A panel from the Park and Recreation Commission will work with Jan in the selection and interviewing process. • 2. Rink Attendants A suggestion was made that the rink attendants wear name tags. Also, it was suggested that permanent signs be posted around or in the warming houses indicating the hours the rink would be open. 3. Recommendations from Vince Wright Vince was invited to present some views on park maintenance. A) Idaho Snelling - Consider improving the lighting and wiring. B) There is some confusion regarding our policy on broomball and boot hockey. This should be clarified. C) New doors for the warming house at Idaho Snelling. The Commission will invite Vince back in the spring for views on the park situation. 4. Winter Program Information will be sent out next week. Open gym at Falcon Heights Elementary School will consist of the east gym for pre-schoolers and • the west gym for older children. 5. Gazebo This is still being checked on. . r • -2- 6. Council Liaison This was Paul Ciernia's last official meeting as Liaison from the Council. The Commission wishes to thank him for his years of assistance. •
