HomeMy WebLinkAboutPRCAgenda_88Jan11' A January 4, 1988 T0: All members of the Parks and Recreation Commission FROM: Linda McLoon, Chair There will be a meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission on Monday, January 11, 1988 at 7:00 P.M. at City Hall. Please call me at 646-1371 if you are unable to attend. Please call me if there are additional items you feel should be on the agenda. The following agenda will be discussed. 1. Park Director position 2. Winter Program 3. Guides for Rink Attendants 4. Gazebo update 5. Flooding update 6. Minutes of the December 14 meeting. • MINUTES Parks and Recreation Commission December 11~, 1987 Members Presents Bob Gehrz, Karsten Eckberg, Paul Nelson, Pat Bush, Connie Lasser, Leo and Jean Ohman, Linda McLoon, and Paul Cisrnia, Council Liaison Members Absent: Tom Montain, Ardis Hutchins Grove Park Pat Bush presented some of the plans for a proposed gazebo to be located in the Grove Park adjacent to~,the skating area. Different methods were discussed to allow this structure to also function as a warming hous®--partially or completely enclosing it, using a heater, etc. Bob Gehrz will coordinate with City Hall some of the details regarding these options/installation, etc. Y~inter Program There was some discussion regarding implementing an "Open Gym" at Falcon Heights Elementary School again this winter. Increasing the amount of time • and dividing the two gyms by age group were also discussed. Rink Attendants Pat Bush went over the winter skating program. The rink attendants have been hired and all we need is cold weather for the ice to be made. 1~ie will see about some netting or screen behind the hockey goals. Park Director Position At this point nothing concrete has been implemented to replace Pat Bush as Parks and Recreation Director. The School District and Roseville Parke may have possibilities if the Commission decides to merge sore of its programs. City Forester A graduate a~tudent at the University of Minnesota has been hired by the Gity. Some of his services may be utilized by the Parks Commmission. He will be able to set up a master plan for our park facilities,as well as order trees and maintain them. •
