ITEM DESCRIPTION: Discussion of park ordinance violations
SUBMITTED BY: Carol Kriegler, Director of Parks, Recreation and

EXPLANATION/SUMMARY: At the last two meetings, the commission
has conducted discussions concerning the perceived level of park
ordinance violations, their subsequent influence on park users,
possible methods of enforcement, and other ideas for curbing
infractions. Much of the discussion has centered on pets in the
parks.
The commission was interested in obtaining more information
regarding available options in communicating the city's "no pets
in parks" policy to park users and area pet owners. Carol
Kriegler will give a report regarding the costs associated with
various options.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: Winter Event Planning
SUBMITTED BY: Carol Kriegler, Director of Parks, Recreation and
Facilities
EXPLANATION/SUMMARY: For the past few years the city has
conducted a mid-winter celebration at the Community Park on the
Sunday nearest Ground Hog's Day. The event has typically
included skating, a treasure hunt, kid's relays and races, snow
sculpturing and refreshments.
The commission may want to do some planning in preparation for a
mid-winter special event.
