Present were Council Liaison Sandy Larson, Les Larson, Harold Nilsen, Erma Olson, Jerry Wallin, Robert Blomberg, and Elving Anderson. The meeting began with a discussion about a possible addition to the Thatcher Chiropractic Clinic on Larpenteur Avenue. There were rumors of a possible ex- pansion of the second story, an addition to the present building, or some develop- ment to the basement. It was decided, however, that since there has been no specific proposal for development presented to the Planning Commission no further action will be taken until such time as a proposal is prepared. Harold Nilsen advised that he had received a copy of a "sign ordinance" adopted by the City of San Diego and recently upheld by the California Supreme Court. This ordinance was directed toward the elimination of billboards. Harold recom- mended that all members have copies of the ordinance. Sandy Larson volunteered to obtain copies and distribute them at a future meeting. Jerry Wallin recom- mended that it might be a good idea for the members to have before them the actual California Supreme Court Opinion for .the purpose of being able to read the rationale behind the Court's decision to uphold the ordinance. Jerry Wallin will give a report on this matter at a future meeting. Sandy Larson advised the Commission that Carl Dale had been hired as a City Planner. Mr. Dale wants to meet with the Planning Commission next Monday, March 17, 1980 for a special meeting. Upon a motion duly made, seconded and carried the Commission will hold a special meeting at 7:30 p.m, on March 17, • 1980 for the purpose of meeting with the new Planner. Sandy Larson advised the Commission that Hewlett-Packard was contemplating moving into their new building facilities on March 21, 1980 and that they had successfully passed the fire inspection. The members having had an opportunity to review the existing Planning Commission By-laws, it was recommended that they be revised and brought up to date. This will be accomplished over the next few meetings. Upon a motion duly made, seconded and carried the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Secretary •
