Environment Commission
Meeting Minutes
October 8, 2007
Present: Diane Ross, Ron Kroese, Peter Lindstrom, Justin Miller
Absent: Frank Meah, Jim Kielsmeier, Sam Bontrager, Gretel Keene, Susan Harding
Guests: Dorothy Walz, Ethan Wagner
The commission meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM.
The minutes of September 10th were reviewed with no changes noted.
Lindstrom introduced Dorothy Walz from the Ramsey Conservation District. She spoke about workshops that the conservation district holds on educating residents about native plant landscaping
and rain gardens. The commission agreed that a workshop should be planned after the first of the year. The commission will also look into making this a joint workshop with the City
of Lauderdale.
Discussion on single sort recycling was tabled until a meeting where more of the commission is present. Miller will put together a synopsis of information so the commission can make
an informed recommendation to the city council.
There was a brief discussion on the status of the garden, but no major updates were presented. The commission will continue to monitor the garden to see what additions/improvements
need to be made.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM.
