Environment Commission
Meeting Minutes
May 12, 2008
Present: Diane Ross, Ron Kroese, Nina Semmelroth, Gretel Keene, Peter Lindstrom, Justin Miller
Absent: Stan Sveen, Michael Talbot, Sam Bontrager, Ethan Wagner
The commission meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM.
Ross moved, and Keene seconded that the April 14th minutes be approved. No objections were heard, so they were approved as submitted.
Miller presented a draft agreement from the Minnesota Climate Change Corps. Miller stated that it includes many of the services that they presented earlier. Semmelroth moved, and Keene
seconded that the commission recommend to the city council that they enter into an agreement with the Minnesota Climate Change Corps. All voted in favor.
Miller then presented a copy of the US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement that had been discussed in past meetings. Lindstrom asked what tasks were outlined in the agreement that the
city has already initiated or is in the process of completing. The commission went over the list and reviewed projects that were underway. Ross moved, and Kroese seconded that the
commission recommend to the city council that they enter into the US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement. All voted in favor.
Miller gave a brief update available compost bins and grocery sacks.
The meeting adjourned at 7:15 PM.
