Staff Report Recreation Update- Abernathy reported that all summer positions have been filled. This year there were over 40 applications regarding summer employment. Abernathy also updated the Commission on upcoming spring programs and that summer registrations have continued to come in pretty steadily. Abernathy also reminded the group that the City is now on Twitter and on Facebook as another avenue to get out announcements and updates to the public. Public Works Update- No report. Dogs in the Park Trial Abernathy handed out the final copy of the Dogs in the Park Trial Guidelines for the Commission to review. Commissioner’s noted a few grammar mistakes and a few guideline clarification corrections. Abernathy will make these changes and then order the signs. Notification of this trial has been put on the City website and made note of on Facebook. When signs are completed they will be posted in the parks. Bench Grant Abernathy reviewed the bench grant application and started discussion on moving forward with this grant. Abernathy also reported that City Administrator Justin Miller and Mayor Peter Lindstrom would be meeting with Falcon Heights businesses during the month of May. Abernathy thought this might be a good time to approach them on sponsoring a bench to help with the City’s cost for the benches. Abernathy will find out the time frame those meetings will take place and report back to the Commission. The Commission will work together to draft this letter with this grant information for the local businesses. New Business Ice Cream Social Entertainment- Abernathy has tried to contact band instructors at the Roseville Area High School regarding any small bands or jazz ensembles to possibly play at the Ice Cream Social but has received no return feedback. Abernathy has found a trio group similar to the entertainment last year who has done some other local community events and would be decently priced for our event. The gentle man’s name is Jon Steiner and he has a small band that plays everything from soft listening music to get up and dance favorites. Commissioner’s present agreed that this would be a good fit for our event and to go ahead and book him for the Ice Cream Social. Spring Event- Weber-Sanders recommended the Commission look at organizing an Easter egg hunt of some sort on the front lawn of City Hall. The Northhome neighborhood had one this past April and had a great turn out and was a lot of fun. Abernathy will be looking into what other cities have done for their Easter egg hunts events and report back. Next Park Commission meeting will be Monday, May 11 at 6:30pm at City Hall Adjournment Meeting ended at 7:30pm Minutes respectfully submitted by Lisa Abernathy.
