Many of the same programs held in the past will be held again as well as some new programs: Aerobic Kickboxing, watercolor painting class and continuing the parent/child craft classes with Nancy Gagner. At this time the University has not gotten back to Abernathy regarding golf programs this summer so she will report back if anything changes before summer. Council member Beth Mercer-Taylor is in talks with REI in Bloomington about getting some cross country ski’s to use at Winterfest. Rink Updates- Pittman reported that the rinks are in good shape as the weather has been cooperating. So far there has only been one weekend the rinks were closed due to extreme cold weather. Green asked if parking at Grove Park has been an issue. Pittman reported that he has not received any calls regarding parking nor about the City not putting a hockey rink at Community Park this season. Park Plan/Guide Work- Future Needs Analysis Mielke turned the Commission members attention to the binders they received upon arrival. Mielke gave a short background of the Park Plan that was done 10 years ago and its purpose. Mielke reported that in creation of this new plan it would be come a reference guide for Park Commissioners as well as the Parks and Recreation overall plan. By doing this each member will have access to background information, policies, park information and needs analysis that may be helpful when working towards the Commission’s goals each year. There are sections that are still a work in progress: Table of Contents, Maps, Trail section, the trolley path project, policies and future planning. Therefore Meilke asked Commission members to bring their binder with them to each meeting. 5.
