Abernathy will be setting summer programs soon as she hopes to get the summer brochure out by the beginning to mid February. Due to some changes in staff at City Hall, Abernathy will now be filing in at the front desk so will conduct front desk duties along with normal recreation duties. Abernathy also reported she met with the City of Lauderdale regarding combining efforts to put on a fun run this summer. Lauderdale’s race volunteer will be proposing a budget to both cities and they will meet again to finalize details before bringing this even to their councils. Public Works Update- Pittman reported that public works has been busy maintaining the ice rinks. Long asked if they have noticed if they are being used. Pittman said from marks on the ice they look like they are being used but the attendant’s log sheets have not been collected yet so do not know the exact number of visitors during warming house hours. Dan Newton, who played at last year’s Ice Cream Social, will be at Winterfest to play his accordion fireside and in the building. And as always volunteers will be needed so if any Commissioners would like to help, let Lisa know. 2009 Goals and Agendas Abernathy supplied the Commission with a layout of the year to plan out the agendas for the 2009 meetings as well as open discussion for projects or things the Park Commission would like to do or discuss in 2009. Abernathy will compile these ideas and submit a draft of agendas for the Commission to approve. If approved it will go into effect starting in March of 2009. Refund/Fee Comparison- Abernathy reported the change in the refund policy is also going to council this week. Commercial Recreation provided detailed information regarding the different levels of splash pads, a ball park of cost for each type and information on how it can be a developing project for the future.
