Falcon Heights Council Workshop Minutes November 3, 2010 Members present: Council members Long, Harris, Gosline and Mercer-Taylor Members absent: Mayor Lindstrom Others present: Administrator
Justin Miller, Finance Director Roland Olson, Fire Chief Clem Kurhajetz, Jon Commers Strong Towns Proposal Jon Commers presented the latest version of his proposal, which aims to involve
school aged children (along with University students) in the governing and community building process. The council was supportive of the direction the proposal was heading and directed
staff to continue to develop the plan with Mr. Commers. 2011-15 Draft Capital Improvements Plan Miller presented the draft 2011-15 CIP for discussion. Key points of emphasis included
the proposed refurbishment of the Telesquirt fire truck and the Community Park tennis courts. Staff indicated that they were not comfortable spending a considerable amount of money on
the fire truck since the work would only buy about five to seven more years of life on the truck. Options include buying a new or used truck or keeping the existing truck until it no
longer has any trade-in value. The council directed staff to pursue used truck options as well as exploring other partnership options. The council also directed staff to begin the grant
seeking process for the tennis courts in order to keep all options open. The workshop concluded at 7:50 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Justin Miller City Administrator
