Falcon Heights Council Workshop Minutes November 3, 2010 Members present: Mayor Lindstrom, Council members Long, Harris, Gosline and Mercer-Taylor Others present: Administrator Justin
Miller, Bob Long, Jim Losleben City Hall Solar Panel Proposal Mayor Lindstrom indicated that he met Bob Long at a recent event and they discussed the possibility of placing solar panels
on the roof of city hall. He introduced Mr. Long who then presented Jim Losleben who spoke about the new technology that his company, tenKsolar, has produced. Their proposal calls for
the panels to be placed on the roof of city hall and would be financed by a combination of federal tax credits, Xcel Energy rebates, private financing, and city lease payments. The city
would own the system after a period of ten years. In order to get into the queue for Xcel rebates, they asked for a non-binding letter of intent from the city council. The council asked
questions about the financing and the letter of intent, but indicated that moving forward seemed seemed logical in order to put the city and developer in position to access the incentives.
GreenStep Cities Update Miller presented the status update on various GreenStep Cities best practices. Falcon Heights would need to complete 12 of the 28 best practices, and seven have
already been completed. The environment commission is working on a list of those that they would like to see completed. The next step will be to adopt a resolution indicating that the
city would like to be a GreenStep city, which will probably be presented to the city council in early 2011. The workshop concluded at 8:15 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Justin Miller
