has been ideal for flooding so this process has begun and will continue as the
good weather conditions continue.
4. Winterfest
Abernathy reported that Winterfest planning is well underway and is hoping for
warmer weather this year.
5. Community Park Sand Box
Abernathy asked the Commission their thoughts on ways we could utilize the
filing in of the Community Park sand box in ways other than simple filling it in
with concrete. A few ideas of involving the community or park program
participants has come up and thought the Commission would want to explore
ways to incorporate this into a project of some sort. Ideas presented were:
raising money for the Friends of the Park Fund and sell pavers where the
families or a person’s name would be put on brick or paver, public would pay for
paver and then they could decorate it around a theme, possibly “what Falcon
Heights means to them”, create a contest of some sort in designing what the
area would look like with decorated pavers/bricks put in. Commission members
will wait to hear from Tim the Public Works director on what sort of time line is in
store for filling the sand box and for the time being will explore different ideas of
ways including the community in this project and what options we have in filling
in the sand box area.
8. New Business
Adjournment – Kwong moved a motion to adjourn at 7:10pm.
