Meeting Minutes
April 11, 2011
Present: Peter Lindstrom, Brian Goodspeed, Ethan Wagner, Nina Semmelroth, Rebecca
Montgomery, Diane Ross, Justin Miller
Absent: Gretel Keene, Stan Sveen,
1. Minutes of the March 14th meeting were approved with no changes.
2. Miller presented draft "buy local" policies that other cities have approved. Such a policy is
needed to gain credit under the GreenStep Cities program. Ideas that were generated were
joining a Chamber of Commerce program or developing an online local business directory.
Miller stated he would bring ideas back to the next meeting.
3. An update on the GreenStep Cities progress was presented. To date, ten best practices
have been completed, with two more of the "required" BPs still needing completion.
4. The commission then reviewed the city's tree ordinances. Montgomery agreed to provide
a report her students conducted for the City of St. Louis Park. Also discussed was
developing an urban forest master plan for the city. Miller agreed to send Montgomery a
copy of the latest city boulevard tree inventory.
The meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm.
