January 28, 2005
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road East
Little Canada, MN 55117
Re: Application for permanent signs -Market Square Town Offices
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter accompanies Mendota Homes' application for permanent business signage for
the new town office development, under construction at the intersection of Marketplace
Drive and Middle Street in Little Canada.
We are proposing one monument sign, to be placed along Middle Street, which would
display the names of each of the businesses in the Market Square development, along
with the street addresses for the development and the name, "Market Square Town
Offices." A rendering and site plan are attached for review. The monument sign will be
dark brown with white name plates for each business, single-sided, facing Middle Street,
with a stone base to match the stone used on the Market Square buildings. The sign is 96
inches wide, and 84 inches tall, plus a base which will measure between two and three
feet tall. It will sit back from the west property line of our development approximately
twelve feet. The monument sign will be illuminated by landscape lighting from below.
We are also proposing individual signs to be placed near the front entry door for each of
the 13 offices at the Market Square development. These individual signs will be 24
inches wide and 36 inches tall, constructed of a dark brown aluminum product, and
mounted to the wall of each office near the front door. The business name for each office
will be displayed in raised metal letters. The signs will be illuminated from below with
landscape lighting. A rendering is attached for review.
Finally, Tim Walstrom's State Farm Insurance Agency, which recently purchased the
town office at 2868 Middle Street, is requesting approval of an illuminated State Farm
logo sign to be placed on the north end of their building. A photo of the sign is attached.
It measures 30 inches wide and 37 inches tall, and will be placed approximately twelve
feet off the ground, centered on the north wall of the 2868 building.
We respectfully request the approval of the above signage, to complete the Market
Square Town Offices development.
Sincerely,
Erin Mathern
Mendota Homes, Inc.
