MINUTTJS
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 2G, 2005
Solar indicated that while Goldma~9c had informed them that they were
tallcing to the city about security issues, Goldmarlc did not make the owner
aware that the issue had reached a boiling point.
The City Administrator reported that aNovember 7 T~' meeting was held
with Paul Abzug at which there was in depth discussion about the extent
of the problem. The Administrator felt that both the owner and Goldmarlc
have ignored the problem. The Administrator indicated that for Goldmarlc
to now budget $70,000 for security based on past discussions about the
extent and seriousness of the problem, both surprises and disappoints him.
Solar stated that he agreed with the City Attorney co~roments. Solar noted
that to withhold the requested approvals without a strong legal basis for
doing so would be problematic. Solar pointed out that the City has other
options for addressing the problem. He also indicated that he would
communicaSe the City's message back to the owner.
,Blesener agreed That the City should not withhold the approvals if it would
put itself at risk. Blesener felt that the City should begin working on a
multi-family licensing ordinance.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption
RESOL DTION NO. 2005-Y-28 -APPRO DING THE ISSUANCE OF A
CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCI' FOR MONTREAL COURTS
COD1P7_EA' AS DEEMED APPROPRIAT E 13Y TlIE FIRE MARSHAL
AND ]3U71 DING OFFICIAL ,AND APPROVING TILE CONSENT TO
SAI E RE7 ATI vE TO MONTREAL COIIRTb" TA,Y-EJ~'EMPT
FINANCING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (4) Blesener, LaValle, ~I{eis, Allan.
Nays ('1) Montour.
