MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />APRIL 27, 2005 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City <br />Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 27`x' day of <br />April, 2005 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the <br />following members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Bill Blesener <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Rick Montour <br />Council Member Ms. Barbara Allan <br />Council Member Mr. John Keis <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel R. Hanson <br />Code Enf. Officer Ms. Jessica Jagoe <br />Fire Marshal Mr. Duane Williams <br />Fire Chief Mr. Tim Morelan <br />City Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer <br />FIRE The Fire Marshal updated the Council on the work that he is doing <br />MARSHAL for the City. The Fire Marshal indicated that about 80% of his work <br />consists of commercial and multi-family fire inspections. He noted ChaC <br />multi-family inspections take priority given the life safety issues thaC exist. <br />These inspections take a lot of time and follow up to ensure thaC correction <br />orders are complied with. The Fire Marshal indicated that most of the <br />City's apartment complexes are compliant with the fire codes at this time. <br />Restaurant inspections are the next priority and also take time and follow <br />up. The Fire Marshal reported ChaC fire inspections of commercial <br />properties are also done, and these properties are in good shape from a fire <br />code compliance perspective. Additional duties include sprinkler and <br />alarm testing, plan review, property access inspections, gas tank <br />installation and removal inspections, church and school inspections, etc. <br />The Fire Marshal reported that he works two days per week, and it is <br />difficult to get all the needed inspections done with his limited schedule. <br />While most of the life safety issues are addressed and resolved, there are <br />other fire code inspections that could use some additional attention. <br />The Fire Chief agreed that there are more property maintenance <br />inspections related to fire safety that could use attention.
