MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 10, 2005 <br />indicated that he would like to review both programs with some local <br />businesses and lenders, and would come back with some options and <br />recommendations for the Council's consideration. <br />The Council reviewed the City Administrator's report and agreed with his <br />recommended approach. The Council also suggested that the <br />Administrator review the program with other cities at the City Managers' <br />Conference. <br />SREET The Council reviewed the recommendation of the Parks 8z Recreation <br />BANNERS Director for the purchase of updated banners for display on City <br />boulevards. It was noted that the new design incorporates the Thunder <br />Bay logo changes. LaValle suggested that the size of the Little Canada <br />logo lettering be increased. Council agreed. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-5-ILO -APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF <br />20 COMMUNITY PRIDE BANNERS FROM ACTION IMPRINTS AT <br />A COST OP $1,800 AS RECOMMENDED BY THE PARKS & <br />RECREATION DIRECTOR WITH THE DIRECTION TO INCREASE <br />THE SIZE OF THE LITTLE CANADA LETTERING <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Keis, Montour, Blesener, Allan. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />LEGISLATIVE The City Administrator highlighted some issues pending in the Legislature <br />ISSUES related to the State's cutting the Market Value Homestead Credit, turbo <br />charged Truth In Taxation, and levy limits. The Administrator also <br />commented on the Governor's position of no new Caxes, while raising <br />fees. The Administrator pointed out the impact for people who itemize <br />their income taxes since the cost of fees is not tax deductible. <br />Blesener suggested that the Council contact the City's legislators on these <br />issues. <br />CLEAN-UP The City Administrator indicated that there was more participation in <br />DAY Chis year's clean-up day than last year's. However, the participation Level <br />was not as high as expected in light of the subsidized costs. The <br />Administrator reported that staff is considering conducting a free clean-up <br />day on a periodic basis and will present a recommendation to the Council <br />
