Hanson As discussed at the August 12th Staff Transition Planning Workshop, I am recommending that we elevate Bill Dircks from Public Works Superintendent to Public Works Director effective September 1, 2015. With cornpletion of the new Public Works facility and given the fact that Parks Maintenance is now under the same roof, I am also recommending that the supervision of Parks Maintenance be added to the Public Works Director's responsibilities. In doing so, I believe we can gain greater efficiencies by working as one unit rather than two. With the title change and additional job responsibilities, I would also recommend a salary scale adjustment. This adjustment is based on similar sized cities and the pay scales for non -engineer public works directors. The current pay scale for PW Superintendent is: Start 6 Mo. 1 2 3 4 5 72,561 73,500 75,000 77,000 79,000 81,000 83,000 The proposed scale for PW Director for 2016 would be: Start 6 Mo. 1 2 3 4 5 75,000 76,500 79,250 81,500 84,500 87,750 91,000 Given Mr. Dircks is at the top of the PW Superintendent scale, I would also recommend placing him on year 3 of the PW Director scale for the balance of 2015 and Year 4 of the new scale for 2016. (Please note that the proposed PW Director scale was based on 2015 numbers and then increased by just over 2% for 2016.)
