MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 25, 1995
indicated that the City would require the street to be
built to City standards.
LaValle indicated that most streets which are part of
townhome projects are private.
Morelan stated that the City should have assurances
that the streets would be adequately maintained.
The City Planner reported that the City will get copies
of the townhome association covenants and by-laws.
These documents will address maintenance issues, access
for emergency vehicles, etc.
Fahey pointed out that private streets are less burden
on the City.
Morelan asked if the townhome association could close
access to the area with a gate.
Fahey pointed out that St. Jude's has a gate system at
the entrance to their property. Fahey pointed out that
emergency vehicles would have to have access either
through a key or bolt cutter.
Morelan asked how the City's snow plow would turn
around where Minnesota Avenue ends at the entrance to
the townhome development.
Public Works replied that the snow plow would probably
have to drive into the development and turn around.
The City Planner pointed out that this can be addressed
in the townhome association documents.
Morelan asked about access to utilities.
The City Planner reported that the plat includes
drainage and utility easements, and the City Engineer
will review these to make sure they are adequate.
Morelan stated that he had no problem approving the
development provided that these concerns are addressed.
It vas pointed out that a-devele'rt, E yacjredffott will be
prepared and,.,s,ubm.i,tted to the Council for review and
approval.
4
