MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 23, 2004 <br />Blesener asked about redundancy and backup for the dispatching <br />function. Smiley reported that none of the centers have back up, but in <br />emergencies, 911 calls can be routed to other dispatch centers. <br />Smiley indicated that his position as the City's Emergency Services <br />Coordinator is that he would like to see atwo-site option for dispatch. <br />Fahey agreed with the necessity of converting to an 800 MIIz system, but <br />had strong reservations on consolidating dispatch functions. Blesener <br />agreed, and noted a key issue is the urban/suburban concept. Blesener <br />pointed out differences in staffing levels between St. Paul and the <br />suburban centers thus the impact that combining would have on service <br />levels. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption <br />RESOI. PAID., MAPLEWDOD, AND WHITE BEAR <br />LAKE DISPATCH CENTERS FOR THE REASONS AS OUTLINED <br />1N THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR'SMFMO DATED .TUNE I8, 2004 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Anderson. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Anderson, LaValle, Montour, Blesener. <br />Nays (0).
