MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 26, 2003
Council discussed the recommendation to review alternative law
enforcement options, and agreed that proposals should be sought from
nearby cities that have their own police departments.
Council discussed the recommendation that the City create a storm water
utility. The Administrator pointed out that charges can be varied
depending on the class of property. Blesener suggested a flat, per
property, charge. Council directed the City Administrator to research this
option and bring back a recommendation.
Council discussed the special activities line item in the Fire Department
contract. It was suggested that discussions occur with the Fire Department
relative to this expense as part of the 2004 contract negotiations, as the
Fire Department may have alternative revenue sources that could be used
to underwrite this expense. Fahey suggested that rather than target one
line item, the Council review the bottom line with the ;Department. Fahey
pointed out that the Fire Department has historically had modest increases
in their budget.
It was the consensus of the Council that discussions occur with the City
Attorney relative to his costs to determine if there is a made to make a
reduction in legal expenses.
Montour again noted that it is important that property owners are aware of
the impact that the proposed State budget will have on Little Canada, and
the efforts of the City to address this issue.
There being no further business, the workshop meeting was adjourned at
7:28 p.m.
n
Mich el I. Fahey, Mayor
/~ .l .
Attest: ~ c ~ /_-_-__.__....____---..__----
~~ el - I-Iauson, City Admiuistrator
