Holmberg reported that as part of the County's
RAMSEY COUNTY redevelopment of the Lake Gervais beach area, a pathway system will be
PARKS & developed with a portion of the pathway to be located on the east side
RECREATION of the hill. This pathway is proposed in this area to provide handicapped
access to a fishing pier that will be installed as part of the redevelopment.
Given the grades on the side of the hill, it is necessary to locate a portion
of the path within the 25-foot setback.
Holmberg described in detail the improvements that are planned for
Gervais Beach. Some highlights are the path system throughout the park
area, the addition of a fishing pier which will be approximately 80 feet in
length, removal of the picnic shelter on top of the hill since the hill is steep
and the top area limited in size, replacement of the structures at the beach
with a new concession stand, restrooms, and lifeguard building.
Holmberg further noted that the County is considering moving the location
of the fishing pier a further north to the area north of an existing willow
