MINUTES
PLANNING COMMI:SSK)N
MARCH 13, 2003
Duray felt the Gervais Park was a great asset to the community and the
project will be a great improvement. Duray asked how much of the
pathway fell into the 25-foot setback area. Holmberg replied that
approximately 200 feet fell into the required setback.
Weihe asked about tree loss. Holmberg reported that no trees would be
lost in the hill area, but there were approximately three threes that will be
removed for the new building and one tree removed near the bead.
Duray asked if the County has experienced problems with fishing piers in
other parks. Holmberg reported that the piers have not been a problem,
and they are typically used by youth and older retired people. The piers
are also handicapped accessible, and will likely be used by ha~idicapped
people who would have difficulty using a boat for fshing.
Knudsen recommended approval of the Variance allowing a setback
encroachment into the shoreline setback requirement for a path at Lake
Gervais County Park as requested given that a hardship exists due to
grading impacts on the park if the path were to be moved further west into
the hill area, at~d given the fact that Yhis pathway provides for handicapped
access to park amenities, in this case a fishing pier.
Motion seconded by I3arraclough.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
ADJOURN Keis recommended that the meeting be adjourned.
Motio^ seconded by Weihe.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:56 p.m.
Respectf~,ull~ysubmitted,
C......../ ~ - - ~ ~_
Kathy Glanzdr `
Deputy Clerk
3-
