The site of
the tent would be in the center of the site, at the northeast corner of Middle Street and
First Bank Drive. The tent is 30 feet by 50 feet in area, and the fireworks would be
stored and displayed on tables inside the tent. The length of the permit would be from
June 17 through July 7, based on the terms of the lease between the fireworks dealer
and the shopping center.
The site would not appear to raise any concerns related to parking or circulation in its
proposed location. The primary missing piece of information relates to signage for the
facility. It is assumed that some signage is desired by the applicant. Planning staff
would recommend signage that is attached to the tent itself, with a maximum of one
sign per street frontage, in this case, two sides. Signs are allowed to total a maximum
of 15% of the size of the building fapade. The Fire Chief has also made
recommendations that should be incorporated into the permit.
With the conditions that (1) signage is reviewed by staff for conformance with this
report; (2) the permit terminate as of July 7, and the Fire Chief's recommendations are
met, planning staff recommends approval of the CUP. As a final condition, staff would
recommend that the City reserves the right to review the permit and add conditions or
require changes in subsequent years.
pc: Kathy Glanzer
Steve Westerhaus
Lee Elfering
Greg Schroeder
FW Shreveport, 102 Industrial Drive, Batesville, AR, 72501
5-
