MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
DECEMBER 11, 2003
Keis asked if Boss had any problems with the Planner's recommendations
regarding the height of the proposed garage. Boss reported that he did not,
and would work with the Building Official to ensure that the height met
the City's ordinance requirements. Boss also indicated that it was his
intention to match the exterior of the proposed garage to his house.
Keis asked about lighting. Boss reported that his hockey rink has been lit
for approximately30 yew's, and noted that the lights are hooded.
Dm'ay asked the procedure for vacating street right-of--way. The Planner
indicated that Mr. Boss would need to petition the City fa' the vacation.
The matter would go to the City Council for consideration.
Keis pointed out that the fact that the westerly building straddles the lot
line is apre-existing condition. While it would be nice to get that situation
resolved, Keis did not feel that approval of the second garage should be
dependent on getting everything into conformance.
Barraclough noted that the side yard setback for the house is
approximately 12 feet from Boss Road. Therefore, vacation of an
additional 10 feet would get that setback closer to conformance.
Duray asked if Mr. Boss would be interested in pursuing the vacation of
IO feet of Boss Road. Boss replied that he would. He indicated that it is
unlikely that Boss Road would ever be improved, and noted that the
existing right-of-way is 60 feet wide while City standards are now 50 feet.
The vacation of 10 feet would put the westerly building entirely on his
property.
Wojcik recommended approval of the Conditional Use Permit for a second
garage as well as for total garage space over 1,000 square feet for 57
Bryan Avenue as requested by Mr. Dick Boss subject to compliance with
the recommendations of the City Planner and recommending that the City
Council consider the vacation of ] 0 feet of Boss Road.
Motion seconded by Barraclough.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
COIVIPRE- Mr. Dan Tacheny, Tacheny Professional Park, appeared before the
HENSIVE Commission requesting approval of a monument sign for the townoffice
SIGN PLAN & park.
