MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />January 3, 2002 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Parks & Recreation <br />Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 3'a day of January, <br />2002 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada'Road East in <br />said City. <br />Chair Ginger Sackett Glaser called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following <br />members of the Commission were present: <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Ms. Ginger Sackett Glaser, Chair <br />Mr. James Broteu <br />Mr. David Gray <br />Mr. Craig Larson <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Ms. Carla Horwath <br />Mr. Robert Schabacker <br />Mr. Kevin Steinert <br />ALSO PRESENT: Mr. Jim Morelan, Parks & Recreation Director <br />Mr. Bill Sanders, Park Consultant <br />Ms. Kris Pechman, Recording Secretary <br />RONDEAU Several residents of the Rondeau Park area were present to hear about plans for the park. <br />PARK Sanders began by giving a brief history of the park stating that the land was dedicated to the <br />City by the developer of the Park View Court townhomes. He stated that the City is <br />intending for the park to be a small, passive, neighborhood park with open space and modest <br />development to serve the recreational needs of the neighborhood. No parking lot is planned. <br />Amenities include: <br />• Children's play area near Bryan/Jackson Street entrance. <br />• Gazebo near Bryan/Jackson Street entrance. <br />• Bituminous trail around the edges of the park to include a walkway to the apartments on <br />the east side of the park. <br />• Open, grassy space in the center of the park for playing catch or frisbee. <br />• Landscaping around edges of park to include new shade trees and evergreens. <br />• Ponding and wetland areas. <br />• '/z court basketball court located on the east side near the center of park. <br />• Benches scattered throughout park. <br />Sanders stated that the project is ready for bidding. Construction is planned to start in the <br />spring with completion to occur by late summer. <br />Sanders asked for comments from the residents present.
