The map
PALMEN showed where the property's wetland boundary was located and the location of the 75 foot
PROPERTY setback from the wetland boundary. Sanders also informed those present about the
approximate location of the Williams Pipeline, and he outlined the City's past and present
interest in protecting and preserving the existing wetland.
Several residents from the area were in attendance at the meeting. They were all in favor of
the City's purchase of the property for parkland and expressed the following personal
concerns/comments about the proposed development:
• Highland property does not have much space for development, especially when wetland
and pipeline setbacks are taken into consideration. There may not be enough room to
build at all.
• Development in such close proximity to the pipeline could be very dangerous to residents
and is frowned upon by the people at Williams Pipeline, especially since the pipeline is
so old.
