July 19, 2001
City of Little Canada
Little Canada City Center
515 Little Canada Road East
Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
Dear City of Little Canada City Council,
Please accept my proposal for the City of Little Canada to sell the property located west of city
hall known as "Tract J", property identification number (OS-29-22-34-0012), to me for future
development of one and possibly two unique residential houses.
My idea, if it's feasible, is to build a house that would be a replica of a historic Grist Mill. I
would probably seek consultation from Little Canada's Historical Society Members for design
ideas, etc. in order for the house to "fit" with its surroundings. This house would probably take
on the nickname "the Grist Mill House." If I were to apply to divide the land I would desire to
develop the second house that would represent houses during the timefi~ame Grist Mills existed.
While living in Little Canada for 4 years and serving on the Little Canada Parks & Recreation
Commission I took on a strong interest in preserving the historic "feel" of Little Canada. I
believe that my development ideas would strike an emotion and "link to the past" to various
people who visits Little Canada City Hall and Gervais Mill Park.
Please find enclosed are some photos and designs of historic Grist Mills that may give you ideas
of what I would like the house(s) to look similar to.
Sinc rely,
Kathleen J.
