She indicated
drat the Commission has expressed interest in the past in building a boardwalk on the
wetland area with access to occur from this development.
The developers present stated that they would be willing to donate two easements for access
to the wetland -one at the cul-de-sac and one off of McMenemy Street.
Sanders stated that the wetland area usually does not count toward the park charge since it is
protected land. He felt it was appropriate to ask for cash and the wetland. Sanders felt that it
was better to have the wetland in public ownership. He stated that everyone benefits since
the City could make major improvements to the site such as a boardwalk.
Brausen, a resident of the area, asked where people would park. The Commission stated that
the boardwalk would be an extension of the City's overall trail system with more of a
neighborhood use. The Director stated that the boardwalk has been more of a verbal concept
and would need to be fine-tuned. The public will have an opportunity to comment before
construction of a boardwalk moves forward.
