This issue has been raised over concern that the City's allowance
of outdoor storage in the Industrial Park District needs to be reviewed to be sure that
the City is adequately addressing this use. As noted in the attached materials, Little
Canada allows outdoor storage by CUP, up to 75% of the building size, and requires it
to meet building setbacks and be paved.
One of the issues that raised some concern was whether the City should consider
requiring all storage to be behind the front building wall, regardless of setback. It was
noted that the Orius project held the storage area to a 40 foot setback from Spruce
Street, but because of the building's large setback from Spruce, the storage area still
ended up in front of the building.
Please review the attached information on other communities with the intent to discuss
changes, if any, the Planning Commission would like to recommend to the City Council
for consideration.
pc: Kathy Glanzer
Steve Westerhaus
Terry Maurer
Greg Schroeder
37-
