STAFF REPORT

TO: Mayor Keis and Members of City Council

FROM: Bill Dircks, Public Works Director

DATE: May 6, 2016

RE: 2016 Crack Filling

Quotes were solicited from three contractors to perform crack filling on streets, parking lots, and trails
where it is needed. Two quotes were received. They are listed below.

All Things Asphalt: $1.42/lb.
Northwest Asphalt Maintenance: $1.03/lb.

Based on the quotes received, staff recommends awarding the 2016 crack filling contract to Northwest
Asphalt Maintenance. Northwest Asphalt has performed crack filling in the City for the past several
years and they have always done good work. Last year the City paid $1.25 per pound. The price of
the crack filling material has dropped quite a bit over the past year so the contractor was able to quote a
lower price. A list of streets and lots scheduled to be crack filled is attached. $20,000 has been
budgeted in 2016 for crack filling.
